Eva Zeisel, born in 1906, was a Hungarian-American industrial designer with a career than spanned more than 75 years.  She studied at the Royal Academy of Art in Budapest after which she worked in ceramics factories in Berlin and Moscow.  In 1936, she was falsely accused of conspiring to assassinate Stalin and was imprisoned for 16 months.  After her release, she immigrated to New York and founded the department of ceramic arts industrial design at the Pratt Institute.  The forms of her designed pieces were often abstractions of the natural world and human relationships.  Her works throughout her prodigious career are included in important museum collections throughout the world.  Zeisel died in 2011 at the age of 105.
