On a cold winter day like today, summertime thoughts help keep me warm. And one of my favorite cheery summertime cocktails (and also a great brunch cocktail year-round) is the Aperol Spritz.
Aperol is a bright orange colored Italian liqueur made from bitters, oranges and herbs. The term “spritz” originated with the Germans who diluted their white wine with soda water when they occupied Italy. It is believed that the Venetians later added Aperol to the spritz to create what remains a highly popular cocktail worldwide.
